For the second time Maarten van der Weijden, the 2008 Olympic gold medalist open water marathon, swims the nearly 200 kilometer long “elfstedentocht” to raise as much money as possible for cancer research.

During last year’s attempt he raised an incredible 4,5 million euros for the MWF (Maarten van der Weijden Foundation), which is completely focussed on the contribution to cancer research. This year participants can join the swim for 500, 2000 or 5000m and raise money as well.

CREATE YOUR LEGACY

To raise awareness for this cause the MWF, NATWERK AGENCY and FALSUM combined their strengths and created the following campaign to raise as much money as possible.

“We all know someone who has this devastating disease. My second cousin Puck (6 years old) was diagnosed with Leukemia in October last year. There’s only so much you can do, it’s a matter of undergoing the treatment and good luck. The powerless feeling of not being able to help in anyway is terrible and that’s why I was so happy we could contribute and create this campaign with the help of so many people.” Jordy Huijbregts

Puck was declared cancer free this month and this weekend her two brothers Deen and Moos are swimming 500m along Maarten van der Weijden raising over 30.000 euros already.
